A few days ago, CATL announced the details of a million-mile battery. According to Bloomberg, Zeng Yuqun, chairman and founder of CATL, revealed in an interview that the new battery has a service life of 16 years and can travel 2 million kilometers (1.24 million miles). Compared with batteries currently supplied to electric vehicle manufacturers (including Tesla's locally produced Model 3), the production cost of this durable battery is only 10% higher.

Zeng Yuqun said, "If someone places an order, we are ready to produce it."

In February of this year, Tesla and CATL signed a two-year contract to provide batteries for Tesla's Shanghai plant. The supply contract period is from July 2020 to June 2022. In an interview, Zeng Yuqun said that Ningde Times is currently planning to open a production plant in Germany, which will also provide batteries for BMW, Volkswagen Audi and Porsche.

Zeng Yuqun also commented on his relationship with Musk. "We get along very well, he is an interesting person," he said. "He talks about costs all day long, and we make sure that we have a solution to provide."
